1. Spirit is all. God is all there is. There is one power, one presence, one life, and this life is good. Spirit is our source—existing within, around, through, and as us—even when we are not aware of it. God is the ultimate Possibility, the principle of livingness that creates everything out of itself. There is no power other than Spirit. There is no place where God ends and we begin, for we are all one in God. Each person’s experience of this one life is unique and individual though the one life itself is universally the same thing in and of itself. We firmly believe that there are as many paths of enlightenment as there are individual people, and we honor all religious faiths and spiritual disciplines as valid avenues of experiencing the personalness of the One.
2. The “Kingdom of Heaven” is within. As we focus our attention upon those ideals and values that feel heavenly to us, as we actively incorporate the cherished qualities of being, the God-qualities, into our daily experience through thought, word, and deed—we begin to experience the life we so choose. We pay attention to the intuitive glimpses from the divine wisdom within us, catch its vision, set a clear intention, and then actively use our imagination to create an inner experience of the good life we so desire as though it is already so. Gradually, our experience of life emerges from the inward feelings and thoughts that we habitually focus upon. A saying that originated with Ernest Holmes sums it up well: “Change your thinking; change your life.” The thinking referred to in this sentence is the felt thought, not only the intellectual thoughts as such. Consequently, we choose to be mindful of our beliefs, attitudes, words, mental images, and feelings—making adjustments in our felt thoughts and life choices as we receive feedback from our ongoing human experiences of relationship, work, health, finance, and all other sectors of human life.
3. Everything and everyone in our lives is a mirror, reflecting our own inner feelings and thoughts in the outer circumstances and situations of our lives. We believe that what we do unto others is what is done unto us. And so we are called to compassion and understanding rather than criticism, disdain, and condemnation; we are called to honest self-awareness and personal growth rather than judgment and blame. We value the practice of meditation, affirmation, and prayer as the map that guides us to a life of greater richness, kindness, freedom, abundance, and joy in all areas of daily living.
